Candace sits on the board of two charitable organizations, the Del Mar Schools Educational Foundation and the Children’s Hospital Auxiliary in Rancho Santa Fe.
In fact, Candace has been involved with the school foundation since its inception three years ago, serving as Secretary of the board. The group raises more than $500,000 a year to fund art, music and technology teachers for the district. Sears helped develop the Realtor Campaign, in which local Realtors donate to the foundation. In return, they get recognition which includes a sign rider on their listing signs, mention in the district’s newsletter and on its Website and a full color personalized brochure about the school district that they can give to their clients.
"The program was formulated because many people who relocate to Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe do so because of our wonderful schools," she sayd. "Home prices are high in large part due to our highly academic school system. The campaign is a way for Realtors to be actively involved and give back to the community."
Equally impressive is her work with the Children’s Hospital Auxiliary. Last year the auxiliary raised in excess of $600,000, which funded autism and asthma programs. These are serious health issues that children are facing today. "It's been very gratifying" she says. "We started out raising $100,000, then $200,000, then we jumped into the big levels of $500,000 to $600,000, and last year was our most successful year yet. I work with fabulous women and it’s been a very successful auxiliary.
Why does Candace put in all the extra hours to contribute to these organizations? It's simple - she works there and wants to be involved in issues that affect her clients.
